Re: Old Evinrude
Pictures continued:
Inside of the port side cowling. The missing cam screw can be seen more easily here. It still has the maintenance instructions that include:
-How to clean the sediment bowl.
-How to replace the sheer pin.
-How to gap the spark plugs.
-How to adjust the points.
The motor has the 'old school' wires and spark plugs. Instead of a boot you screw clamp the wire leads to the plugs.
The sediment bowl is also missing from the motor. It should be under the carb on the right. I think the tube on the left might be an exhaust.
Check out the on-board tool kit! It includes a spark plug wrench, 2 sheer pins and a cotter pin. According to the maintenance instructions it also once had a .020 "breaker" gauge and a .025 "spark plug" gauge. Too cool!
Last is the lower unit. The skeg doesn't have any marks and the prop is in great shape and it still has the rubber boot too.
I have two other motors on the "stand" now, but I'm dying to dig into this one when a spot opens up! I need to wait for the service manual anyway I guess. Maybe I'll build a stand while I'm waiting...HMMM...
