old johnson help

I have a 1963 75hp johnson i've tried to get open up it will idle fine but sounds like it is only running on 2 cylinders,what is easy way to check spark

Any way you can dream up to rig up a spark gap of about 1/4". There are plenty of commercially made spark checkers. Oh, you asked for the easy way--stick a phillips screwdriver in the spark plug boot and hold the shank 1/4" away from a head bolt while a helper cranks the engine. Oh, make sure that screwdriver doesn't have a wood handle. Heh-heh.

Your 2 cylinders is probably due to one bad set of points. (There are two)

thanks for your help I will try and let you know also I unplugged tank from hose and it kept spitting gas out is their a kit to rebuild the top of the tank
