Re: old threads
I've learned over the years to choose my battles wisely. I try to refrain from stressing over anything, especially "little annoyances." It hasn't worked, for me, as well as I'd like.
If you think about it, though, sometimes, when an old thread is replyed to, for lack of understanding, it may rehash a really good point. It made someone think, and question, and offer input, and maybe a fresh perspective or insight. It may catch the attention of another experience lacking member and save them a lot of heartache, money, or maybe even their health, well being, or maybe even a life. Sometimes (quite often

) I read too deeply in to things. I cannot, however, remember a single time that it caused myself or anyone else anything more than a laugh or maybe even a disagreement.
Anyway, my point is, we're always going to have people making mistakes. As far as I'm concerned, it's perfectly OK. It's part of life and every one of life's aspects. Sometimes we have brilliant mistakes. It's simply one of the things which make this world go 'round.
iboats is extremely well run and moderated. Personally, I don't feel the need for "a perfect world." Not even in the iboats world.
I'm kinda' amused by someone responding to a thread asking for advice on something inconsequential in the first place, like "What color should I paint my outdrive?", and someone telling them, "Mercury Black", 7 years later.
No matter what color codes or "safegaurds" or time frames are added to a thread, there will be those who simply didn't pay attention. There are those who never read the forum rules; and those who simply don't put a lot of thought into things.
I try to never cross a bridge until I get to it. Sometimes they're best not avoided nor burned.
I think this may have been a little more than my .02...
