Hi folks. This is my maiden voyage on this sight.Im hoping to find some info to fix my outboard.I recently purchased a 10 hp ,1963, Evinrude Sportwin.I replaced the coils, points and condensors. It starts great, but,it doesn't want to idle in slow. Also,it won't rev up properly. The spark is strong(30,000 volts on each cylinder)with 70psi compression in each cylinder.Another very concerning issue is the amount of smoke it generates and the oil in the 45 gallon drum that it leaves.I will not put it in the waterways because i won't pollute our resources.Could this be a carburation problem?Does this motor have sufficient compression? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
