Re: Olympic Hockey Wager

I tell you something I do like from this outcome, as follows:
I never believe that the easy route is the best. So, Canada now has to play an extra game (oh, booo hooo)...and then they travel through/against Russia to get back into the final game(s).
So, I say....bring it on. Sometimes, failure is the best teacher..and this supposed easy route through by winning a lot early is not one I believe in nor is it the one that has been working for us. Personally, I like the underdog angle and now, Canada is an underdog.
So, I'm ready to roll.
Again, kudo's to the U.S for pulling it through in that game!!
Now, keep your heads up!!;):)

well played tonight US team.
I see our team has a few issues that need to be worked out. urrrrr:)

It looked like those issues were all between the pipes, just cause he could come out and play the puck dosnt mean he had to!..I must say the offense for Canada was great. They out shot the US by far, it was all goal tender fault!...but great game!

Right on with the underdog thing.
My CHL team Windsor Spitfires had a rough route at the Memorial Cup last year. Lost the first couple of games. Ended up needing to win a qualifier to advance then the quarter, semi and final all in 6 days.
They came home with the cup !!!

Yes we were beaten buy two men tonight. Our goalie (bad plays) and the U.S. goalie was a wall. I think we out played the U.S. big time but just could not score. I am with Big Prairie on that the easy road is not always the best road as the team with the easy road seems to have a hard time getting back into the game after the rest.

I never thought I'd hear Martin Brodeur being entirely blamed for a loss. One of the greatest goalies of all time. Maybe give him the benefit of the doubt?

Hey..........thanks for the play by play............really. I didn't get to see the game. Pleasant surprise the USA won!!!

I'm sure the loss was due to more than the goalie tho.

Team effort right??

Did someone say Underdog??? Fear not, for I am here! :p:D

Wish I could have seen the game. Sounded like Canada played a great game, but Miller played like it was Miller Time!

One step closer to US domination of our Northern Brothers! ;):p:D

Grrrrrrrrr

Couldn't even post last night.

Brodeur was brutal tonight. One swing and a miss led to a goal and one dive led to another. And I can't believe the number of times I was yelling at the tv cuz he was behind the net with a couple of attackers in the zone. That's what your defense is for.

Meanwhile, the Miller guy was incredible.

Canada clearly outplayed the US and the goalies made the difference.

And I'm not so sure that trying to go through Russia is going to help this team.

Hopefully Luongo steps his game up from what he's been doing for the Canucks and plays at the level he can play at.

I'm awfully proud of Ryan Miller(fellow Michigan State alumni) for keeping the canucks off the board last night when we needed it.

Go USA:D

Looks Like team Canada staff agrees with every one on this forum they are benching Martin Brodeur for the Germany game! Wow you know you did bad when they bench the star to bring in a less experianced man! Hope He does well, I want to see a re-match for the GOLD!

All I have to say is I am so glad you Southern blokes love this game as much as we do, if it wasn't for the USA playing this game with us we would be stuck with cry baby Europeans complaining about all the physical contact.

God bless the USA and all its players and watch out for round two, after we kick Russian butt we will want some more. Then again if we don't make it, make sure you teach Ovechkin a lesson or two, that boy is gettin too big for his britches.

Go Canada!:D

Luongo is not a lesser goalie. In some cases better. I sure hope he can carry us when needed. We will be there no question in my mind.

Have to agree. Luongo is not a lesser tender than Brodeur by any means. My son and I thought he should have been in last night. (not hindsight, we said it before the puck dropped)
