Does anyone know where i can obtain the little heat exchanger that sits on top of the inlet manifold of the omc/chevy 4.3l v6 which has a pipe connected to it which links to the auto choke assy of the holley carb...think its holley maybe a rochester?
Anyway the little pipe busted off.The unit itself has a flange with two bolts in it and a copper tube underneath which passes as a heat exchanger fromthe inlet manifold to the spring of the autochoke unit which auto advances the choke off when hot.Well in its warming phase maybe.
Its the 1989 model and appears to be exactly the same on the 3.8l model.
Can not find any listings anywhere...is there a chevy parts dealer that might have one?

Thankyou in advance for any help

I'm afraid you're going to have to make that part.
Use brake line; it's maleable. (sp?)

I bought from this guy before the phone number is in there somewhere, and if you need anything he won't cheat you, his word is good.

Bet he has one laying around. And he's local to me. My friends have bought from him also.

Tell him Allen with the omc sent ya his name is Joe. Maybe easier to email him.

Good luck !

Or you could eliminate that "prehistoric" (sorry I couldn't resist)hardware and replace it with an electric choke...

it's just a heat exchanger tube, you could go to junk yard and get one off any vehicle and bend to shape.

Ayuh,...

What you're lookin' for is a Choke Stove,+ Chimney...

As noted above,...
I Doubt you'll be able to find a replacement, that Fits...
You'll probably either have to build your own,..(I'd use copper tubing, it's softer than brakeline,+ even easier to work with)
Or,...
Up date it to an Electric Choke...

Back before electric chokes were common, a lot of cars had a choke stove which was a copper tube that pulled exhaust heat from a passage in the intake manifold or even right off the exhaust manifold. I got a choke stove repair kit from an autoparts store and fixed the one on my 70 Ford 302 V-8 with the Autolite 2100 2bbl carb. Look around for choke stove repair kits, probably a dusty old one sitting on a dusty shelf in an equally dusty old shop somewhere!

Thankyou to everyone for the replies

I now know its a choke stove!!
Yeah you are right about the brake pipe its about the same size.
The difficulty i have had is welding the blighter to the flange.
It does not like being mig welded......prob need to braze it
It looks like a plate of beans when i had finished.
The tube inside the manifold is copper so am thinking of brazing a new copper tube if i can find a bit down the breakersand bringing it all the way out to nearly the choke and then a a small bit of ose....
I just thought someone was goint to say yeah just use this part number.
No such luck .....

Now electric...hadnt thought about that geez where do i buy parts for that nad convert..prob need to buy a new carb...if i can get one.
How about a choke cable...manual.

Thanks again everyone

Actually, with minimal googling, there are automotive choke stove kits available.

The pic below is for a 1989 2 bbl carb, probably # 15 is what you are looking for, it's called a Heat Exchanger Tube PN 910961, it's a dealer direct item which means some may still lhave it in stock.

Thanks Bob

The bit that is broken is the flange with two 3/8 bolts holding it to the inlet manifold.
If you unbolt it it reveals underneath a small copper heat transfer pipe.
The item that you refer to ie the little bit of tube i can make no problem
its where the metal tube on top joins to the flange thats where its bust.
I have welded it and it kinda works but i wonder for how much longer.
Its just that it would be nice to replace it with a proper one...not my botch at welding it!!
