Hello, I have been reading this forum for seven years. Usually I can find the answers to all of my questions by reading the past forums and the archives.
Not this time. I have a 1987, 19.5' bayliner Capri with a 5.0L and a Cobra outdrive. My problem started with hard shifting and then making a knocking noise from the Gimbel housing at idle speed in forward gear. I have the OMC manual for my outdrive. I have followed all of the steps for removal of the outdrive. Remove six bolts, support, pull straight back. It moved back about an 1/8" and stopped. I thought maybe the lower shift cable was holding it so I removed it from the right side of the carburetor. No luck, next I soaked everything I could see through the 1/8" hole with Karo-oil. After waiting till the next day it still will not move. I tried prying on it evenly, and it will not move.
So before I break anything I have decided to ask for help.
Is there anything that is not listed in the OMC manual connected?
What else could I try to remove this outdrive?
Any help would be great!!!!
