Omc Cobra Overheating Helppp?????

Hi i have an omc cobra 4.3 setup that is overheating. we have changed the impeller thermostat and have cleared the waterways. when the boat is in the water it will over heat with no water getting from the impeller to the thermo housing unless we give it big RPMS. the boat will run at home on a hose with no promlem. we have flushed all the waterways and they look ok can anyone help.... something i not to sure of is should the impeller housing get hot?

Nope,.... My WAGuess is,... It didn't get water the 1st time you started it,+ Now the impeller is Junk again...

I agree with Bond-o. You can't ever run a sterndrive boat without a water supply. The people who run their I/O's on the trailer to "clean it out" are doing it wrong.

The impeller/pump in the drive relies on water for a lubricant, and a number of exhaust components can't take the heat generated by uncooled exhaust air. Without the lube, it heats up and deforms within seconds.
