Re: OMC Stern Drive Impeller removal
So just an idea before you take it out what i did is went to my local hardware store (McFadden Dale) and got a clear hose so i can see if water is pumping in to the engine like it should.
Which im glad i had becuase when i just test launched my boat last week i found that my Port side engine was not pumping the water. Im in process of changing my water pump now.
So far i have pull my whole drive off, disconnected shift wires, and now tomorrow i will start pulling apart my top housing. to get to the water pump. (i only have approx 1-2 hours day) and only myself and i have been working on it just fine. Yes it heavy, and yes it takes longer but that is my get away from everything time.
If you know how to work a wrench and you are smart enough to take pictures or notes along the way you have nothing to worry about.
See pictures of my test drive unit that im taking a part right now so when i take apart the newer drive i know what to expect.

Also here is a cut sheet of the upper gear housing. I have the full catalog if you want i can email it to you. Just send me a PM.
Wish me luck Thursday I'm gonna launch at ramp $12 cost to test boat near shore that way if temp rises I can shut it down immediately. Normal operating temperature should be 120 or so right and nothin more? (GM350). Not that it will matter engine size but figured I add that.
I don't want to pay someone to do work I can so just gonna take time, heck one day I may have to do it on my own and might as well learn now.
