So... What do most of you pontoon owners do? Do you keep your pontoon in the water and ready to go all summer or do you trailer it to the lake, river etc when you want to use it and it stays on the trailer when you are not using it.

Just wondering what the majority of pontoon owners do. We trailer ours but the majority of the boats going down the road are ski boats. at least in this area.

just wondering.

Myself, I have a slip at a boat club and only opull it out if I want to go to a different lake/area. We have found we use it much more this way as well as developing some great friendships at the boat club.

We have a house in a complex with a marina. When we go down there for a week or so we tie the boat in the marina. When we go back to California we pull it out and garage it. Pretty easy to launch and retrieve, just don't want to leave her in the sun and weather when we aren't there.

Ours lives on the trailer, and splashes into the lake du jour on most weekends.

We live at the lake and it's only a 1 mile drive to launch the pontoon so ours lives on the trailer when not in use.

Hey there BobG Don't I know you from somewhere... LOL :D

We leave it on the trailer (covered) till we are at the lake for the weekend/week. While we are at the lake (80 miles away), we leave the pontoon in the water and tied up to our dock.

Mine stays on a trailer at a storage yard about 3 miles from the launch. My truck is going to stay with it as soon as I am done getting work done. Then, all we have to do is drive the family car up, I hop in the pickup, drive to the launch, and drop him in.

Slips here are way too expensive, so I wouldn't even think of it.

I keep mine on the trailer in the side yard with a cover over the entire boat, all the lakes by me are 35 to 50 miles away. I would love to keep it in a slip but it cost money and I worry about theft and I can work on it in the yard an make sure she cranks before leaving the house. I want to get a house on a lake some day!

My pontoon is hanging in a boathouse 50' from our front door. It's only been on a trailer 3 times in 26 years.

I fish 90% of the time on the same lake. I keep mine on the trailer in a rented shed 1/4 mile from the launch. I open the shed doors, back up and hook up my tritoon, pull her to the launch and launch, after fishing, load her onto the trailer, 2 minutes to the shed, back her in shut the door and I'm gone. Fishing poles stay in place, I don't have to tie anything down for the ride home etc.

One thing though, be sure to take any fish you catch with when you leave, dont leave them in the well.

Re: on the trailer or in the water.

Lots of interesting responses. A slip sounds like a good idea but we like going to different locations. The flowage is just 1/2 mile from our house, the bay is about 10 miles away and the big lake is only about 30 miles away not to mention a few other lakes. I am working on getting bow stops put on (as soon as I make some) and I think that will make me feel better about pulling this thing around.

Enjoy the water.

Mine stays in the water for 6 to 7 months out of the year. The logs get dirty, the interior has to be replaced about every six years but so what, this is a small price to be able to go boating on a moments notice! I found out years ago that keeping it clean was WORK and using it was FUN!

I keep mine in the water in a covered slip. I find that I use it a lot more. I get on it some days after work, sometimes only for a couple of hours. If I had to trailer it, I would probably not use it near as much. I think that is why people don't keep their boats long. Lack of use.

Trailering is a pain in the rump....I have a slip and we will use it about 50 times this summer. The slip is a mile from our house, Very convenient. No waiting at launches and no dealing with bozos at the launch. For this, I pay for it....$4k per season, but well worth it as long as we are using it.

I have a trailer queen also. I like to go to different lakes through out the season. Trailering it to me is no big deal really.
