i have an early 70's merc 115 inline 6 cyl the motor was rebuilt andwhen i got the boat it neede attention due to lack of maintenance i went thru the fuel system and replace as neede to get it functioning properly but it would not run right eventually i found a plastic bag was left in the intake maniflod when they rebuilt the engine. I removed the carbs and cleaned them and reinstalled them and the boat ran great ont the muffs and was going to put it in the water the next day. before i took it all the way to the lake i hooked up the muffs just to test fire the engine and it would not start. I performed what electical tests i know how to do and all checked out fine so i talked to a guy who works on outboards alot and he suspected a bad connection so i began running wires and cleaning connections. I found 2 bad wires and replaced them plus cleaned all the connections and ground wires. Every time i would find a bad wire i would attempt to start the engine and it would fire right up for that day if it sits overnite it will not start hte next day this has happened three4 days in a row. Today i went out and removed a couple of wires and just wiped the off as i have already cleaned the conections and it fired right up. I am not so good at electrical and boats are a new thing to me i figure i have a switch that is sticking open but have no idea if this is correct. If it is correct what switch would it be and where is it located / I know a manual is a good inveatment but am on a fixed income and have been spending money on the parts i know i need so a manaul has not fit into the budget yet. So far this boat i got for "free" has cost me a couple of dollars and i still have not been able to take my son and grandkids fishing. Any help is always appreciated and in advance thank you for the help
