ive got an 03 johnson 25hp 2 stroke outboard its a pull start/tiller motor also and ive been having issues with the carb. it was rebuilt in late april by a shop. last week i tried to take the boat out and it wouldnt start. i had had previous issues with bad fuel but it had run its course and i bought fresh gas and the old bad gas was used up. i switched fuel lines to a new one instead of the original one. i drained the carb squirted fuel into the cylinders and was able to make it run briefly with the choke out. at this point i dont know what to do:confused::confused:

so what ive done so far
-rebuilt carb (4/30/10)
-taken out plugs and cleaned them
-squirted fuel into the cylinders
-drained carb bowl.
-tapped the carb with a screwdriver trying to dislodge anything

You need to be a JETS fan ,thats the problem. Ok sorry for that bud, just an old NY
er tryin to be funny. Seriously though. It sounds like your carb again. If it fire up by squirten fuel into her and chok, its not gettin fuel.Id bet the carb got some crud again. They are having alot of trouble with fuel lines from the etonol based gas.The fuel passages in carbs only need a bit to screw up.

Dude what the JETS FAN forgot to mention is that the carburetor is few sensitive. Maybe water or oil leaked into the line. Try taking both hoses off and use an air compressor to blow the lines then put it. It should help it.
