I removed the outdrive from my boat to change the gimbal on it.. and now the outdrive wont move, its like the shaft is stuck... is there some kind of security mechanism that would prevent the shaft from moving? Thanks

What shaft?

And what gimbal did you replace? Gimbal bearing? Gimbal ring? Something else?

Yes, it's called a yoke, Do you mean that it won't turn when the guy holding it tries to turn it by hand, or that it won't turn while on the boat and the shaft in the coupler.
If the latter, look through the gimbal bearing into the coupler and see if the spline are still in the coupler.

Re: Outdrive not working

If you can't turn that shaft by hand, you have big time drive problems.
Disassemble and inspection of the drive is the next step.

When i removed it to replace the gimbal by mistake i removed all the drive oil.. Will it still turn if it has no oil???
