Re: Over Heating And Water In The Oil

Howdy,

It appears that you might have either another bad impeller or remnants of a previously failed impeller blocking water flow. Is there a power steering and/or oil cooler in the raw water line from the transom to the engine? If so there may be blockage in one of those oil coolers.
They may pass enough water at idle but be insufficient above idle or at higher power settings..

Also, you said that you welded one of your riser/elbows. That is pretty risky at best. It does work but it only works for the exterior of the cast iron piece.

If there's a crack in the interior you'll never know it until you start hydrolocking after shut down, or at the beginning of next season when the engine is frozen from raw water corroding up the cyls that had open exhaust valves at the end of last season.

If they're not leaking now, you should replace them soon (this year) or you may be replacing the engine again.

Good luck,

Rick

do you have the right spark plugs for this motor that could cause the motor to run hot. However I think you have a blown head gasket if you have water in the oil or if you run it in a barrel and find oil in the water good luck

Its hard to get one up to full running temp on the muffs.
No load on the engine at all.
Did you pull the heads again?
