Re: Overheating problem Johnson 35HP 1982
Update... Well, I ran the engine with the garden hose connected directly to the inlet water tube and it ran cool with no thermostat installed. Let it run for over 15 minutes at fast idle. This is the first time it hasn't overheated, which leads me to believe that the problem has to be in the water pump. I'm installing a new impeller and what I need to know is if I can use either Permatex gasket cement or Permatex Ultra Black (silicone based) on the pump housing to get a good seal. Right now the housing has a groove with a neoprene seal in it. These shrink slightly and leave gaps. All suggestions welcome
Thanks.
