I'm not sure how all of this is turning out. Let me know if I need to re-size things.

Re: Owner's Manual

there are many folks here that think boats from sunup, to sundown(at least i do)
me too.
I've been playing the game for the last half hour w/o the thrusters. I think you need the thrusters on the fifth level. At least I do. Other than that it is a lot of fun.

I beat the game....

Twice.

Fun game though and I think it can really help somebody w/ their docking skills.

Re: Owner's Manual

Well, I wouldn't believe it if it had not happened to me. I found the owner's manual buried in the bottom of a box of extra electrical parts and unsent warranty registration forms.

There isn't much to it, however, much like you guys suggested. But, find it I did. Now I can get on with my life (rofl) and concentrate on other things like PFD's, lines, fenders....(ad infinitum, ad nauseum)

that's on hell of a first boat, take it easy till you know how it handles. being twin screw will make docking easier. learn to use the engines to make it pivot.

Re: Owner's Manual

That is exactly my plan T.D.

I'm going to spend quite a bit of the first several weeks 'playing' with it, learning how it reacts to the various control inputs.

Amen on the Huskys rule!!!

Re: Owner's Manual

Hey, guys. I'm ba-a-a-a-a-ck ! I've been very busy this last year what with the necessary repairs to the boat (it wasn't as nice as the owner said) and working extra to support my "habit".

Not only have I joined the Power Squadron, I'm now a certified Vessel Safety Examiner (after training) and have also joined the Coast Guard Aux. Between these two organizations, I'm gonna get LOTS of training !!!

I found an owner's manual , and it is a real joke. However, if anyone wants one, I'll be happy to make a copy. I've posted some history of this manufacturer under tha manufacturer's forum (Mach 1) and am trying to locate a list of original suppliers to Mach 1 and/or Freedom Boats. I need a port-o-lite frame.

I've had her out last summer and have been learning how to handle her. I will say that when she gets up on plane - hang on! This thing takes off like a sling-shot ! I will say that I love twins ! I can turn her around in her own length by pivoting around her center point. I'm also not happy with the radar tower and will either turn it around or replace it.

Re: Owner's Manual

OK! Thanks, one and all.

For starters, I'm an old gearhead. Street rods, street machines, dragsters, etc. So, things mechanical do not intimidate me. That said, I'll begin by mentioning that I have already picked up a Chilton's service manual. If I need a different one, let me know.

hello degree,

well, i can add aircraft engine work to that list, as well. many of my projects made it into the rags... hot rod, street rodder magazine, hot chevy, etc.. in fact... i grew up with a spare tire as my nightly pillow!

some mechanic-types i have met have a natural gift above even the rest of us gifted builders. lol~ u may be one of those that fall in that special group of special wrench twisters. u r not short on cofidence. :) of course that is important.
but despite my mechanical background, i find the o/b and i/o a unique applicaiton of the internal combusion engine. it does all the same things any ol engine does, but it has a wide variety of dif system parts to do it with. while i learn daily about my engine/boat combo... i am quick to note marine engine applications are specific. maybe more like a race engine, but for every day use. so, i have always opted for factory type reference manuals.

i think the tip here is be sure u have the oe engine/power train reference books on yr model, etc.. on iboats advice i also got an oe parts manual for my yr series to go with my oe service manual.

imo, even if u dont work on it urself, it may save u some $ when u can be parts nomenclature specific. converstaions such as that lead a mechanic vs this thing, or that thing... which gives an open invitation that the owner dont know beans, and so time clock runs... well, imo.

well, dont be offended, please... if this is just a repeat of their suggestions. numerous iboat guys told me to get both... i listened, i did... and they were right! :) "thanks, iboats!". so far, i am doing all my own work, and while challenging at times, it is goin well. :D

regards,

lakester

Re: Owner's Manual

Lakester, Thanks for the suggestions. I have already contacted Mercruiser and will be getting the shop/service manuals for both the engines and outdrives (it was necessary to give them the appropriate serial numbers). I agree that these engines are use-specific and the manuals will definitely help me in my efforts.

The boat is a lot of fun, and I know that there is much to learn about it. I found that my freshwater tank leaks--I'll be replacing it this spring (now that I found it!) as well as a new pump. Also, the existing radar tower leaves me 'cold', so I'll either replace or modify it. I'll be upgrading the radio to DSC as well.

There are pics located further up in this thread. If you can't find them, e-mail me (ramman99@comcast.net) and I'll send you some.

Not exactly, I'll need pics of the motor mounts and stringers. you'll probably have to pull the back seat out of the way
