I just changed my lower unit oil on my DP-C1. I have only had the boat for a month and have had it on the water 1 time for 2 hours or so. I checked the Ujoint bellows and there was a little oil in the bottom of it. I talked to a local boat mechanic and they said obviously the seals need replaced, but if i kept the lower unit full of oil i could make it till the end of the season. Then i would have all the seals replaced when i have it winterized.
Does this sound okay? There wasnt any water in my lower unit, just a little leaking into the bellows which seemed sealed. I think if i check the oil each day when i pull it out of the water, i should be okay for 2-3 more uses before i put it up for the winter?
Thoughts? Im also having all the other wear parts on the tilt system such as bushings replaced this winter so that everything will be new for next season.
