Greetings! We are photo addicted (even if you do not admit it in public) on iboats. Too often we see NOTHING or the dreaded "Little Red X"
Hopefully, I will try to clear up some photo woes. I am not a technical writer but, I will give it a shot at staying simple.
I use:
Photobucket.com
and other's use:
Mypictures.com
my wife uses myimagehosting.com
friends use imagestation.com, flickr.com, snapfish.com, and there are many more FREE photo hosting sites.
A photo hosting site is a place out in the internet world where you can store photos for free. Some sites limit your storage.... it's all a personal preference.
I will explain the site I am most familiar with Photobucket.com
I have a free account and when you establish one you can upload photos (send them from your computer to the photo site). Once an image is posted you will see three choices below the photo
URL
TAG
IMG
Use the URL choice (I do) posted below your photo.
In iboats on top of the REPLY box where you type your New Topics or Replies there is a small Square Shaped Icon with a small mountain in it. (It appears yellow tinted on my screen)
Click on that icon.
You will get a small pop-up that opens and this is where the URL from your photo gets placed.
You are done!
A tip:
Photos should not be larger than 640x480 for size and if you need to they should be re-sized to that (or smaller) before you send them to your image host. As you browse iboats you can tell people who have photos that need to be re-sized. Re-sizing programs available free on the net too (I use Picasa).
If you resize small enough you can have your favorite photo made into your avatar. Photobucket hosts my avatar photo too.
Now get those pictures posted! 8)
