Hey fellas.
So my brother told me a person at his work was selling an older johnson 20hp for 200 but did not know the year, when I get there he also told me there is a parts motor included but it had seized from sitting but everything else was good on it, which at a glance did appear decent for parts.
Ok, I know you all will want to flame me
but the situation I had never had a way of testing the motor. What I did do was pull it over and it had a real good compression feel and thud on exhaust stroke, gear shifter worked, foot did not have any chunks out of it, etc. Model# on the plate says FD-19D ser# C4545** taking it that this is a 1965? never thought it to be that old at first glance judging by the decals on it "thought they started going to decals in the 70's
"
Anywho he says it runs excellent, he had a coil go on one cylinder he said and used a good coil off of the spare that he included "also gave me a spare set of pick up coils and the other ignition coil"
Are these motors hard to get parts for in Canada? I never really wanted a motor this big, really only wanted a 9.9-15
but the deal seemed good and the foot on the spare looked tight and no chunks out of it or anything. Paid 200 for the motor and spare
