I'll try to fit the pictures in later, but first I have to get ready to do a military style Escort in Bethany Beach,It's a hundred miles away, then Tomorrow a car show at a Veterans Hospital Near Wilmington Delaware And Sunday a Parade for the Troops in Brookhaven PA. It's really amazing how some one can't read something in black and white. It's an easy question..I don't care about the trim, where the people are on the boat, just where the water level on the motor is.Some people just can't read I guess. And by the way kids, I've been boating for over 30 years. My last boat was a 21 ft bow rider with a 454 V8 I/O with a 4 barrel carb.

It looks like Rickdb1boat posted just the pics you were asking for, have they helped you any?

If I get my pontoon in the water anytime soon, I'll take some and post them too.

I use photobucket as a host site for all my pictures, it easy and the pics look good here.

Please don't let this thread fade away, it's the most entertaining thing on here right now.

So, the reason you thought it might not be the right height was what again?

I don't have a reason,The only time I can see my motor is when it's on my trailer..I don't go in the water because of my disability. We will try to post a couple of pictures later .

Silver,
In this thread there's an outboard diagram, pictures of another toon's outboard in the water, your outboard in the water. Trying to figure out your question. In your first post you said you sometimes have a trim problem, then you said no trim problem, it's where the people are sitting. What is your question? We'd like to help.

I wanted to start out with just the motor height first then see about the trim, but it was so hard to get people to understand the easy question that I don't care about the trim anymore. When I had my Bow rider I always knew where my trim was .But it's not that easy with a pontoon boat with a 90 hp motor.. Most of the time it's just the two of us in the boat. But once I a while we get more ,5 is my limit. The boat is rated for 14 people.

When the boat is underway at about 3/4 throttle run the trim up and down a little, you'll feel the "sweet spot" where the steering is neutral, and the prop has a good bite. Get it too high and the prop let's go, too low and the steering is fighting you all the time and the motor will feel bogged down.

A gauge would help you to locate the limits for the undesirable conditions and to find a place in between. If you can't look over your shoulder and see the top of your motor to tell where it is, you need a gauge.

I take it that no one knows the proper height of an out board engine in the water.

Some people just don't get the humor in shaggy dog stories. If you're too young to know what that is, just Google it.
