Well that's a fine mess I got myself into. I stripped the head on the pivot pin and then the easy out broke off trying to extract it. My question is since it's in there really good, do I need to take it out? I have a seal kit on the way and I was hoping to put a new washer on it. Do I need to drill it out or leave it?

Use a wee centerpunch or chisel and a small hammer to get it to turn.-----And invest in one of those impact screwdrivers if you are going to work on some outboard motors.

With that thing snapping off the easy out do you really think I'll be able to get it to turn?

Yeah, I've had it all apart cause I wanted to put in all new seals. On the easy out, I guess it was the last resort so to speak. I'll work with the chisel and punch and let you know how it goes.

SUCCESS!!! Man, I sure appreciate the help and patience you two. Pics to show the story. After drilling the easy out out I used the punch and chisel. I got a groove chiseled and then hammered it loose. Thanks again guys. I was sweating it.

Here are the housings, I'll get pics of the gears ,bushings and shafts tomorrow. I have them soaking in varsol. I am going to run a tap thru the screw holes and wire wheel the housings for clean up. I took off the flywheel and checked gap on the points and all looks good there. I'd say the points are 8-10 years old but probably 20 hours run time. Also, it ran really good the other day after the carb rebuild. I had to take the flywheel off to get the tiller handle off and check the fuel connection. I'm replacing the fuel line. Lots of old grease build up so cleaning all of that in the tiller handle.

Do a pressure and vacuum test of the l.u. -- appears to be a weld, and will want to be sure it's holding.

Less than an hour shop labor, btw. (With some searching, you might also be able to find a cheap 9.5 with a bad powerhead.)

For $80, I would waste another Second on the current Housing

Yep, I haven't been to Canada since the 60's and I don't see myself going there anytime soon.
