I think these guys need to switch to plan "B" unhook the boat after you back it down the ramp....Good solid motor. Nice skeg grinding on concrete test. Very lucky the engine was down and actually saved the boat from falling.

Was just thinking... dam that looks like a roller trailer... why would you unhook it before you backed down??? Just asking for something like that to happen...

It the easy launch method, you just have to swim after the boat, and replace the skeg every year.;)

what a cool old boat, with faux wood sides like my dad's old stawag!

But guys: here's the beauty of rollers. You don't have to sink your trailer! Just a little push and off she goes!

Someone needs to invent roller bunks with brakes. A hand lever that you can pull that will put pressure on the rollers to keep them from spinning. Release the lever and wa-la, boat slides into water..... on second thought... I'll just keep loading the old fashioned way.

This brings back some memories sort of.... My very first boat, I had just paid for it, and drove away, I was towing it to the ramp, with my buddy. We got there, and I was backing up. I'd never launched a boat before. The seller was on his way to meet me and show me all I needed to know .... but we were impatient..

My buddy says "I know how to do this, I helped my dad launch his old boat ALL the time"

So I caved, I lined up the trailer, and started backing in, and he unhokod the inch strap and bow chain..... as soon as the trailer hit the ramp, OFF SHE CAME! Oh man, I still remember the sound she made as the lower part of the hull hit the pavement, and the momentum kept it moving till she was floating..

Damn roller trailers. I love my bunk trailer now.

That old glastron lost some gelcoat and plywood..... I bondo'd it up, and put some marine paint on it, and for the next 3 years, even on a warm sunny day sitting on the trailer, it would drop water from there.....

I wouldn't be so quick to laugh. Bunk guys can be just as airheaded

I watched a guy load a new Trophy on a bunk trailer last fall. The ramp is very steep and if you have a long trailer chances are you?ll drag the underside as you pull up over the hump at the top of the ramp.

Anyhow, the guy backs the trailer in and loads the up the boat. He has a 24? trailer so of course the trailer hangs a bit as he pulls out. He gets the boat 1/2 way out of the water and starts gunning the truck. I figured he was hung on the hump but a couple of guys standing on the dock noticed what was going on and yelled for him to stop. Seems the guy forgot to pull his motor up before pulling out. The boat was sitting about 6? off the bunks in the rear.
The guy panicked the dropped the truck into reverse snapping off the skeg and cracking the lower unit housing all the way to the cavitation plate.

Not a pretty sight

this guy with twin outboards was launching his boat, he was at the helm and started power-unloading, wouldnt budge. He started giving er some gas, keep in mind these babys are over 200 HP each! finally he is full reverse there was noise, foam etc then all of a sudden SNAP! WHIIIRRRR! the winch handle was spinning and he was still reversing! so much power the cable got to the end and broke off the winch!!....SNAP!

now thats entertainment!:D

any one ever notice the people who hang out ay the ramps on a saturday afternoon, bet they can give you some stories.

like the one I gave them with my first boat.

I wazs launching in the evening and it was low tide, we'll i was rushing and forgot the transome straps and trided to, ANd alost susceeded, launch the boat. just could not figure out why it was so hard to back off the trailer when i finally looked forward and realized i had draged the pull vechical into the water(thank god I looked forward) the truck was in just past the rear tires, talk about feeling like an iditot.

don't be that guy:eek:
