Hey fellas,

I was wondering if one of you could help me by either posting a picture or sending me a link to a 1989 Johnson 15HP short shaft "shaft not important"

I might be possibly getting this 89 "original owner too" I have not seen a picture of it yet or seen it, but by the sounds of it this person has taken good care of it. Just want to make sure that when I go and see it that it is the year he claims as I am taking it that the graphics on the cover changed for that specific year?

Anyone that could post some pics of an 89 that would be great

Have any of you ever personally owned this motor? From what I read it is a very solid reliable motor, well I guess the same could be said for almost every Johnson ever built right?

oh yea. sure as schitt. Yea, I just traded off my 1958 JW-14 for a 1983 Johnson 7.5hp. It looks similar to that 15.

I would have to say you did very well there!
Used to have a 1964 JW-19 Good little motors, but hated not having neutral or reverse.

Heck ya, was just pokin fun, my dva work takes the cake. I haven't owned that particular year but the same design for powerhead and lower unit were used from 74-93, over the years they upgraded the motors with different thermostat location, better throttle control, different electronics but essentially the same tried tested and true design.
