Mine is like that also, looks like we may have found the problem.

Like the FAA says, "PILOT ERROR"! ;)

rg33, LD can be a bit rough on people - but he always helps and means well. :D Sounds like you have found your problem so best of luck with the water test.

No offense was taken. I have been called every name in the book, several times in my life. At this time, they just roll off my oddly shaped stomach. I really appreciate all the help he and others have given. :)

LubeDude, what was your reasoning for installing the mobster tabs on your boat?

Yes, trusting guages without comparisons to the real world does cause problems.

I'm not sure if tabs are the way to go. If you are experiencing porpoising, trimming up will only make it worse. Only way I've been able to cure that is to trim down. There is something else going on there. Yes, tabs will help cover up the problem you have, but you are just putting a band aid of sorts on your boat. It's best to fix the porpoising problem prior to adding tabs. Just my 2 cents.

You are probably right, band aids are not permanet, good for less than a day. I wanted to know his reason(s) for using the tabs since we have similar boats.

We have Identical boats!

In answer to this, I talked with John at Nauticus on the phone and he wanted me to try his product and made me a deal I couldnt refuse. I nstalled them and was amazed at the results. Had I not experienced it for myself, I would have never thought about putting tabs on a Bass Boat as they generally are decent handling from the get go seeing as they have been in a constant state of evolution for many years. My boat didnt have any real bad habbits, no chinewalk, and it wasnt to bad as far as a hole shot. (So I thought).

With the Mobster Tabs and a High Five prop, I dont even have a "Hole Shot", anymore. Its on plane before I can even believe it now. It rides flat with one or two people, and it will plane out and stay on plane at a little above 10 MPH. I have had several people that have been in my boat ask why it is so smooth at all speeds. I wouldnt take them off now on a bet. I was able to go to a more aggressive prop and actually increased speed. Im running right at 60MPH anytime I want. Need I say more, Im sold.

Sorry If I came on a little strong, Im known for not having much tact.

Oh, one more thing:

If I chopped the throttle before I installed the tabs, the backwash was bad, it would come clear over the back of the boat. Now, I can chop the throttle and just a little will come over the splashwell, allmost nothing. The tabs deploy automatically and the stern lifts right up. :D

:D Thank you LubeDude for the information regarding our boats. That is just what I wanted to know. Not offended by any thing you have said. I understood the "silly" when it was stated and did not take it personal.

:p Will be out of town for a couple of days, so if I do not respond to suggestions for a time, please do not take it as if I am ignoring anybody. Thanks

Oh, by the way, Thanks Triton for the support.

I get thet from my mother, (She is a real charm) still with us at 90 years young. She has the driest sence of hummor I have ever seen, much worse than mine. You could drive up in a brand new car and be as proud as punch of it and if she didnt like it she may say something like.

Why would anyone buy something like that, and that color, my God, ya trying to scare all the farm animals off?

Not crack a smile or ever apoligise either as she ment what she said.

She had her gall bladder removed about ten years ago, she was getting pain shots every few hours. The nurse came in with her next shot after she had had about two days worth all ready and said, "Well, where do you want this one"? Without a pause, she said, with a straight face, "Why dont you stick it up my nose, ya been everywhere else"!

RG33>>>what type of prop are you running??? Sounds like its not hooking up well when you try and trim up. You mentioned that you were going to try a HUSTLER "cupped" prop>>>is your current prop cupped???
Seems like a bit of setup and prop choose is in order before adding on things like Tabs & fins. (I'm no expert>>>I just read a lot of the posts here)

Hey rg33, where are you trying to launch with such long lines?
Move north my friend, move north. :)

10 seconds to plane and level off seems long.
I think you may need to raise the motor and inch or two.
And select a different prop.
You need to run that baby at full throttle and make not of the rpm's so we can make an educated guess on what prop changes you may need.

Right now I have a quicksilver 13 1/4 dia. 23 pitch aluminum prop on now. Going to the Hustler prop was another option to get a quicker holeshot.

Pewaukee, Nagawicka, and Nemahbin Lakes this was where I was trying to use the suggestions given.

I have never pushed the boat to the limit and I guess one of my questions is that, do I have to nail it every time to get it up?

Re: please help: how to stop porpoisng

try one thing at a time,im working on a set up problam my self before going to prop got to make the set up is right, thats what the gurus says.tuck it all the way under if still porpoising then you can raise the motor and so on also before raising motor might want to do the sand bag trip in the front to see if that has any effect.but one thing at a time.

Yes, untill it breaks over on plane, then you can back off.

You are going to like your boat when you get the thing figured out, and Performance boats at that.

You went from a regular small boat with little performance value to a Hot rod. You have a big, on the water learning experience ahead of you.

I think you are going to be fine when you get to the water again. I would change the prop to a Stainless when you can afford It. If you want a fantastic hole shot and are not so much concerned with Absolute Top end performance, I would suggest a High Five in a 23P, Thats a five blade prop. You should be able to score one on Ebay for around $200.00. It should run about 55MPH easily at full trim and throw a roostertail about 50 yards long if you want to show off. ;)

I agree whole heartedly. Just getting into performance boating and trying to learn as much as I can at a non-aggressive pace. Do not want to be read about in the paper as a statistic.
