I am just moving stuff like clothes, stereo equpment and the like. No big furniture. Light weight stuff. The furniture stays here in Saginaw.

The 600 miles is going back and fourth three times over a probably 2 day period.

in that case darren.... while it's not as 'bad as all that' (risking lives and such) a small uhaul trailer for $50 will actually SAVE you money.... take everything in one trip and come back for your boat on the second.... all your stuff will be out of the weather and the fuel savings of one less trip will more than pay for the uhaul trailer... just a thought bud...

As I said way back whenever, rent one of the car carriers or utility trailers and put the boat trailer and all the stuff on it. 1 trip done. But will things being light, look at an enclosed trailer, maybe you can find one the boat and trailer will fit in.

I see what you mean. I think I'll rent a small truck.

The distance to my place to where the new place will be 95 miles. An hour and a half drive.

When I bought my boat it was near that area. Due to the underdeck being water logged, with trailer, it weighted over 1350 pounds. (!!!!) It is under half that now.

I knew nothing about boats until I came here. :)

Looking at the date codes, one is from 2011 the other LOOKS like 2003.

still, even so, your useing a limited capacity boat & trailer to haul stuff. it was not designed for that. its like useing a wrench to drive in a nail. it might work a time or two, but at some point, something is going to go wrong.
understand, you load the boat/trailer,. it has @ hypotheticly, a 1000 pound recomended max limit. now, you toss in an additional 500 pounds of stuff, be it clothes, tools, whatever. now your at 1500 pounds on a 1000 pound rated trailer. so at 60 mph, your tires heat up, your sway increases, and stopping distance doubles cause your lightweight trailer hs no brakes. [ assuming] add in there is no roof to keep your stuff dry should it rain.
its more then just clothing and gear, its weight, weight that potentialy, your trailer was NOT designed to carry. Depending on tire size, they may also be at or near their load limit with just the boat & trailer. add 500 pounds of stuff and your 50% over the load limit.
Remember, trailers normaly have a certain amount of sway, that side to side motion caused by wind, car movement, and road surface changes. THat sway is in large part, absorbed by the side walls on your tires, which, is the weakest link in that chain. Sway, is in a sence, like dragging the tire sideways. accepted at load limit, diesaster when over loaded.
Botom line, its your boat, your trailer, your stuff, so you can do as you please, my fears are for the other folks on the road around you, cause an over loaded trailer , when you talk about something going wrong, its not an IF, its a WHEN....

convince yourself that this is simply a bad idea...
look up the weight of the boat, complete with engine and normal gear. find weight and capacity of the trailer, its usualy on a plate near the tounge. now check the load limit on the tires, which is clearly marked on the sidewall.
now remember, these are the maxamum safe limits. they are NOT a mid range with wiggle room !
now, go get an armload of stuff, stand on your bathroom scale, then weigh in with nothing in your arms. im guessin each armload is gonna hit 40 to 50 pounds.
are we seeing the problem yet?

One last question.

What is a good marine grade grease for the trailer hubs? I have the type of hubs that take a grease gun.

This boat will be sitting in a garage the vast majority of the time so I don't need top of the line grease.

Do you have easy lube hubs or not? If not I suggest you get bearing buddy as it will help keep the water out of your hubs when you dunk the trailer. If you do have easy lube hubs, you can easily just replace the geese more often (water will get in) and don't have to repack your hubs.

I have super lube hubs. The grease squirts in with a grease gun.

Ok, what is recommended by most people is that you add a squirt of geese from a geese gun each time after you launch. (When you get home, or 2 squirts every 2 launches) This helps to slowly remove geese that is water contaminated. Also, wait a few minutes before launching a short distance from the launch ramp, this will allow the bearings to cool so they don't suck in as much water. Using that you should have almost limitless years on the new bearings.
