I have a alum 24 gallon tank that I am going to mount under the floor an put the end of hose outside the wall so it be easyer to get gas an will be out of the way, I still can't do to much around here with my toon yet cause I got to help my wife around the house for a while cause of her surg she just had, But sure will sneek out when I can, Boatin time is all most here,

I'm enjoying your restore! Keep the pics coming! I'm gonna need em. I'm looking for a stripped toon right now that I can hang my '73 Johnson that I'm restoring from. I love those Stingers! Keep up the good work!

Re: pontoon restore

Looks like a great rig to work on, I might end up doing the same thing. Buying an old one and doing a tear down and build it up on a budget. Thats only if I can find a really old one, seems like old ones go for $10k and up, Maybe around xmas time they go for cheaper.

Are you going to enclose the entire thing and have a little deck, or you going to build it "Southern Style" is what I call it, wide open.

I've been looking, an old 24 footer that you'd strip down past the decking can be found for $1,500 or less. There are kits you can buy, brand new logs and all new metal below the deck for a 24 footer for less than $7K.

Ya I was looking on Kijiji in my neck of the woods, and never saw anything under $10k.

I've since seen them for around $2k online down south. I will probably end up buying one or two down in the Southern States and bringing them up here. Beats paying rent, and still rent my house out. I've seen those kits, would be nice to go new material....but old is what I like. I like old cars, and stay away from new cars. I do like to work and wrench and things.

Where are you located c-mark. I've seen a few in my travels for sale for a LOT less than 10k. I sold my old one last year for 3k.

Re: pontoon restore

thanks guys, i have the deck down but no pics, i am kinda at a stand still, i am waiting on my new console from wise, as far as the gas tanks i am gonna go with the red 6 gallon above the tanks, it takes us 2 days to run out 12 gallons, and i like to keep my 2 cycle fuel fresh, (it seems like the gas evaporates off leaving a little my oil in) i will post pics after i get the carpet on

Sounds good Verg, I was wondering what plywood you was going with?? An what screws you going to use an size when ya do the floor, I am getting things ready to do my floor but can't seem to find the right screws yet, An I going to use the Advantech 50 year warranty O.S.B plywood on the floor.

Re: pontoon restore

i am going with the advantec as well Russell, i have mine cut in already. Now that said if i could do it again i would try to find 5/8 instead of 3/4. because the side trim fits over the plywood and the carpet. but it wont fit over 3/4 plywood. so its gonna be booger to put the new console over the carpet and run the steering cable on the toons ( i will take pics tomarrow) also i wouldnt have used tongue and groove
ok as far as the screws go, check out tsc and ask them for rock guard bolts for a sickle bar mower (they are a flat top bolt, that will be black in color from a coatin put on them.) if you use them you will never know they are under your carpet. i also found at tsc porclein coated self tapping deck screws, they will work as well, how is you toon made compared to mine?

Oh ok, Thanks Virg,, Well it looks like the toons are made the same way but at the front of the toons it self is the only thing that I can see that is diff between them both,, They both have the same console an steering wheel too. Other then the rails are made diff also,
