Re: pontoon restore

I would love to see some progress photos. Iam just about to start with my toon tear down and need some motivation.
Good luck with yours. I might look into mounting a fuel tank under the floor. That was a good idea.

Re: pontoon restore

i didnt have the heart to stop him, he would pull real hard for a min then turn around and look at it, then he would back up and give it a good jerk, and when he finally got the looose gravel spinning out from under his tire he would pedal really fast, this went on for 20 mins, (he was a determined little booger that day)
as far as the boat goes i aint quite done, i have some little nick nack stuff, and i think the ol lady has another set of seats coming, ill post pics when there in

Re: pontoon restore

Wow what a great thread. I have been looking at pontoons lately and have to say looking at what you have done with that gets me thinking. My sisters neighbor has an old pontoon sitting in the driveway. I know the woman that owned it had passed away a few years back and the boat has been sitting there since I does have a cover on it however, I dont know too much about it yet. After seeing this I am thinking I may have to contact one of her children and see what is up with it.
Thanks Virgil you may have inspired another restore.

Thanks, I am waiting to hear back from the family to see what they want to do with it. If I can get it I will make sure to take lots of photos. Glad to hear you are having a good time already with yours.

Re: pontoon restore

Glad to see you didn't go with bed liner for the floor. I used to be a mod at a Pontoon website and have covered that topic many times. The bed liner has specific problems with application on plywood. If you were applying it to aluminium deck I would say go for it, but plywood is a no-no. Liner will bubble up from moisture under it.

Re: pontoon restore

after taking it out on the lake on a hot day i am also glad i didnt go with the bedliner,
i was worried about using that advantech on the deck, but ran into a fellow on the lake (who restored an old lowe toon 5 years ago)
he had used untreated advantech and its lasted the 5 years and is still pretty solid, i guess if i was leaving it in the water that would be a whole diffenernt story ( i posted that for the ones of you redecking you toon with advantech)

hey russell how is your restore coming along?
