Joe heres my Jupiter it isnt finished yet but it should give you the basic idea of where I am headed :D. The only thing I have left to do is paint the topside and it will be white like the bottom .

Red seems to be the new in color. Today she got a black botom. I think this boat is turning out to be a head turner for a 1976. The top side is Hatteras off white, bright side. The red is perfection. This gloss is amazing so deep. Now the bottom is Black. I think the Boat stripe really did a great job of making a few boat classy.

To All,
Thunder over Louisville is a huge fireworks show and a whole lot more.:D

Rick, I live only 30 -40 minutes south of Louisville, myself. Just west of Etown.
I like the color of Ricks boat and Dumifudo, my scheme is going in the same direction. Mine is a long way off to show yet.
have fun All

Re: post pics of finished paint

I went with a pretty standard color combo with a dove grey deck , white sides and a med. blue bottom. I looked around like you're doing and went back to this...I used to have a simmons sea skiff that was painted like this and just got hooked ...never ever never should have sold that boat, I've missed it ever since:(

And to answer you on Roll n Tip..

Its a method of painting..
You ROLL with a roller, while you or a helper immediatley uses the TIP of a brush to flatten any runs and to smooth out the paint..

I skipped the TIP, and Rolled & Rolled..lol

Here's mine, almost complete with the painting. *AMN Rick I wish I could have gotten that good of a finish with a roller, I had to spay mine to get anywhere near acceptable. You either have some great skill as a painter or that rustoleum marine has some great flow and leveling characteristics.

Bryan believe it or not I used regular old Rustoleum and used Kevs method of Roll & Roll tipping didnt really do much for me and took more time :D. I do have some orange peel to deal with but honestly I am happy with the finish for the method used .

One coat so far of Petit Easypoxy. Very happy with it. Cool Mist Gray. The sides will be Ocean Blue.

Hey Joe, you know you can always just use software to give you ideas. That's what I've been doing with my little Sea Nymph. So far, this is the scheme I like best.

Re: post pics of finished paint

Joe, I stripped the old spray paint off with paint stripper. Then I sanded it until it was smooth. Next I primed the entire boat with Rustoleum primer. "Roll and tip" means applying the paint with a foam roller, then, immediately hitting it with a fine paint brush. It gives you a smooth finish. Also, I made sure the paint was the consistency of milk. It's real easy to do and all you have to do is watch for runs. Good luck

Here's mine. I used interlux brightsides. I think in the spring I'm going with darker blue.

I forgot to mention, mine was done by the roll and tip method.
