Power Ball Jackpot

I don't play the lottery. Never have,never will. But this huge jackpot did get me to thinking. I wouldn't want that amount of money. I think it will destroy a single individual receiving such a huge sum.

I'm now in my "senior" years and I am content in my achievements and where I am, socially,monetarily,spiritually,etc.

Therefore, I will not be buying a ticket and that gives all of you a better chance to win. Thank me later.

I don't play the lottery either but couldn't disagree more. I'm in a huge money industry and I could do a lot with whatever the after tax, after cash option dollar amount is.

I wouldn't bother buying a ticket . . . a buddy of mine just called and said he felt like it was a sure thing for him . . . and he was going to buy a boat like mine

I think the key to having that sort of money showing up in your bank account is not letting it go to your head.

Personally, if I won it, first thing I would do is accept it privately. Second thing, I would probably break off a good chunk of it for investment to make for a nice egg if times got tough. Third thing, help family out with their debts, and making them comfortable in life. Fourth, probably quit my job, and think about some kind of venture I have dreamed about for work (a business of my own), then pursue it. Fifth, give some back to worthy charities.

Agreed, we in our 30's have more money than most including a business. I think some people were born with the ability to deal with wealth especially if you earned it from nothing. I know a lot of people who spend it as soon as they get it and is amplified to the negative when it is a windfall. I'm not surpised a bit when I hear of lottery winners completely destroyed because of newfound wealth. To each his own but if you can't manage it even when you didn't have to earn it, what can be said.

I would put a free sign in my front yard and move to someplace I could boat year round. Oh, And stop by the Sea Ray dealer and look into a 40' Sundancer.

Some states like Illinois don't give you the option of accepting the winnings annonymously , it is a condition of winning you get paraded in front of everybody.

You buying or not buying a ticket is a personal choice, but has absolutely ZERO impact on anyone else's chance of winning.

The best part of buying the ticket is the entertainment value. I used to buy tickets to make my long commute seem shorter as I calculated all the things I would do with the money.

I will buy $10 worth. What the heck, I have 500million reasons to.

I would wisely invest directly into local charities affecting my community with 1/4 of it,
I would help seed technical innovations, specifically with the internet and WWW using 1/4 of it,
I would bury 1/4 of it...
and then I would pretend I never even had the last 1/4 of it and put it into some super locked down trust.

I would like to know where all this money goes when collected by buyers of tickets, I know some states started the lottery for supporting schools then later declared this unconstitutional to use sin moneys for schools like California did way back when it started the lottery, but a person like me that has lived from paycheck to paycheck although made pretty good money during my work career would literately have to go to school just to learn how to spend that kind of money, one thing I might do if I won the big one is buy Steve Jobs boat and travel around the world on it and party with the 12 virgins some one missed out on, heck as old as I am they would probably stay virgins, but would just enjoy the trip.

But besides all this fun I know I would make it a point to help people along my trip through life or the rest I have of it, there are to many good people to help to not be able to do that, traveling around the USA with a motor home towing a good boat would be my main goal even if I had to hire a driver, I've seen some real nice setups when I was driving truck seen some tractors with fifth wheel trailers on the back as well and beautiful setups, I made it a point to talk to the drivers when we were at a truck stop filling up with fuel, one had a 17 ft boat in the back of his trailer on it's own trailer...

But I would think nothing about giving a perfect stranger $20,000 just because I wanted to with no strings attached if money wasn't an object or won in a lottery.
