The trigger sets the timing of the spark by sensing crankshaft position. In most cases it is not the spark pulse generator. . .just the trigger..
"Powerpack" is a generic name given to all electronic modules that make the actual pulse that goes either directly to the spark plug or, in some cases, to a coil that amplifies the pulse.
Earlier electronic ignition systems used a variety of schemes to trigger, form and amplify spark pulses. Those modules were sometimes called amplifiers or capacitor discharge (CD) modules.
