Re: power pack

Most form the pulses sent to spark plugs based on information from the trigger mechanism.

Re: power pack

Does it apmlify the spark to the coil? What is the trigger mechanism?

Re: power pack

The trigger sets the timing of the spark by sensing crankshaft position. In most cases it is not the spark pulse generator. . .just the trigger..

"Powerpack" is a generic name given to all electronic modules that make the actual pulse that goes either directly to the spark plug or, in some cases, to a coil that amplifies the pulse.

Earlier electronic ignition systems used a variety of schemes to trigger, form and amplify spark pulses. Those modules were sometimes called amplifiers or capacitor discharge (CD) modules.
