Hi to all and to this perfect forum
I have a problem with my about 10 years old JOHNSON 40HP.
My outboard has 2 tanks oil and gasoline ( oil injection )
I fish at summer, and the motor stays with no use 3, 5 months.
This is the problem I have, When I try to start the engine after this period, It won't start, I try a lot of time pressing the primer ( Primer works ok the coil is ok the cables and if I don't press it for 5-6 seconds the engine doen't start at all ) it starts a little and after 5 second it goes off.
This happens a lot of times until the battery runs out.
The only solution I have found, but it is a very difficult task, in this motor, is to open the screw on the carberators and empty it.( small tank in the carberator )
It has only oil not gasoline ( because in 5 months the gasoline had evaporated )
When I empty the carberators, the engine starts AT ONCE.
and I have no problem when I use the engine OFTEN. It runs very good.
I was thinking when is the time to stop the engine ( for winter ) to disconnect the gasoline plug and run it until it stops, but in this case the oil is running in the engine and I have the same problems ( separated tank )
Is it possible to put a valve on the oil line and shut off and the oil ? or I will have probelm with the oil pump?
When I disconnect the casoline line the engine runs at about 3 minutes
I hope you understand my English ( I am from Greece )
Thank you in advance
Leonidas
