Problems at Home Getting on Iboats

Frustrating that at home it takes forever to get on Iboats. So long that I don't bother. There's one other forum I visit that is a problem as well. That one makes me click on it 3-5 times then it acts normal.
I have a faster connnection at home then I do here at work. (1.5 at home and 1000 at work.
Ran a speed test and at home it's right at 1.37.
Checked my settings and nothing looks wrong although I don't know a whole lot. Lowered the security and that helped for one day.
It's both my laptop and PC at home.
Any suggestions?

Had the same problem using Internet Explorer, Google Gnome works much better here and on several others. Haven't had anywhere that it doesn't work at least as well as IE

I use Firefox version 2 and 3 with no issues at all.

Yeah same here. IE was slower than Christmas turkey so I downloaded Google Chrome and was blown away at the speed difference. Some are concerned about the privacy matter, but heck, all of them gather info in one form or another. Here's a thread on it from recent past. I've used Chrome enough now that it's "comfortable" to use. You make your own decision on what browser to go to but I would definitely get away from IE if you want more speed.

So based on the good suggestions here I downloaded Google Chrome and then Opera.
Made no difference to what I am experiencing.
This is on both my laptop and desk PC.
I brought the laptop to work and plugged it into my router here and had no problem getting on Iboats or the other website that has been a problem.
When I say it's slow at home to bring up Iboats I mean slow.
Probably around 4 minutes and then the same thing trying to navigate.
Like I said I earlier I ran speed tests at home and I'm showing 1.4 download speed.
I guess I need to talk to my ISP which is Century Tel. No other choices where I live for DSL.
I sure miss having Iboats at home.

Call your IP and have them ping you and check for packet loss
Good download speed doesn't mean everything is fine
You can also try going to www.speedtest.net, they're fairly accurate and give you up and down speeds, as well as ping times

Hey Joe. That's the same speed test I used at home.
Didn't know enough to pay attention to the ping test.
Just did it here at work and download and upload is 1.37, basically the same as the download at home.
Ping was 101 here at work. Is that about average?

Depending on your location, provider, etc. But 101 ms is pretty decent round trip response time.

I ran the speed test last night and this time looked at the ping rate.
Was right at 103 so I don't know what else to do but call the ISP.
Past experience has shown that getting someone that can actually help is a crap shoot but we'll see.

I'd have to check when I get home but I got it last April when I bought my laptop and went wireless.
Evereything worked fine until about 2 months ago.

It fixed itself so I ran another speed test and it looked the same except the ping speed dropped down to 59 but everything is working great.
Both the lap top and desk. Whatever.
Getting on Iboats is no problem!
