That may be the case in your area, but I wouldn't make that generalization. It's not the case in my area of the coast, but i wouldn't assume that what prevalent in my area is general rule elsewhere.
To the OP, don't worry about what the next is going to do with HIS boat after you sell it. They could take better care than you do and it could just as easily sink in a storm or find it's way up on the rocks somewhere. Boating is not a wise financial investment. Decide whether you can afford to get the boat you want. If you worry about how much you have into the boat, you'll never sell it.
