Hi,i own a 1994 ,200 hp v6 oceanpro evinrude outboard, has aprox 550hrs up .Among some of the problems i am experiencing are continual replacement of the stator,up to the 4th one now since 1994.Also it is currently bieng rebuilt as number 2 cylinder and piston is badly scored as was the case previously when it was about 250hrs old, some of the other pistons ,numbers 1 and 5 ,i think ,also show slight deteriation on the exhaust side. The mechanic is not sure what the problem is ,suggests maybe running to lean ,or has been getting to hot.or possibly under to much load ,but discounted this as it will peak at 6000 revs. it is on a 23 ft half cab monohull.<br />He is considering resleaving number 2 and replacing only the bad pistons. Crank is fine as are most of bearings .Any suggestions please.
