Hi all, decided to show of my boat!

Unsure of what kind it is but its 19ft and has a Johnson 60hp outboard.

Bought it cheap as it was rough! It had 2 holes in the hull, needed new tyre as they were popped, need re painted and the engine didn't work!

Stripped it down and got it ready for paint.

This is just after its first paint job

Built it up again once it was painted gloss white and it was looking like this.

Decided it was a bit dull and boring and painted a small yellow and green stripe. Didn't like it. So I then painted the whole middle section green, didn't like it. So I painted it white again and decided to try one more colour. Olympic blue!

And it looked like this

Recently took the chequer plate of the front and painted it in grey anti-slip.

And to bring it to where it is now, I added the name 'Happy Dayz'

All the work was done by me and my Dad!

Hardest part of the build was the rubber bumper! It had shrunk by about 1ft!

Bought it just over 1 year ago and finally going to use it next week!
Just little bits left. Got new wheels and tyres fitted, wheel bearings, fixed tow hitch. Just need to sort trailer board and engine out now.

I've yet to sort the cabin out but not to bothered at the minute.

Done the outside bit though. The seats were in a bad state so retrimmed them in green vinyl.

Firstly put chipboard up:

Trimmed that in white and the rest is green.

Fitted the life ring

Almost finished!

Just the engine needs sorted!

It's a nice looking boat...so far the only thing that jumped out at me was the use of chipboard...I hope it's very well sealed and any hole you put into it was sealed...it will not last long at all in a marine environment, particularly by the vinyl seat area...I can already imagine the wood swelling there.

Beyond that, the boat looks nice, but is that trailer big enough to carry the weight of the boat? If the axle isn't rated for it, you risk burning up bearings on any trip of length.

Hmm, didn't know that about the chipboard, as for trailer its the full length of the boat and more so it should be big enough I think. It looks small in them pictures because of where the wheels are but I've moved them back a bit more so should be OK.

I hope anyway, first time boater so don't know much about stuff like this

Each time its out it will be coming to our caravan which is about 60 miles away!

Also will the vinyl that is on the chipboard not stop any water getting into it?

Good job on the paint! I really like it. That's a very cool design for a boat. Unique for sure!

If you aren't going to leave the boat in the rain all the time I don't see why that chip board wouldn't last. Sure, it'll swell up if it gets soaked but the reality of it is where it's located on your boat, if it gets soaked the boat is sunk. Paint would help it seal up, but I don't think I'd worry about it. If and when you have to replace it you can worry about what to do different then.

The trailer is a unique design in itself. I doubt we could get away with that here in America however we have that mentality that bigger is better and we generally overbuild everything. If it holds the weight of the boat and tows straight down the road I don't see the problem.

Great looking boat there, Jamie. I agree about the chipboard or any unprotected wood. Still can't see your trailer that good and 60 mile trips seems to be alot. What I want to know is how in heck are you going to get that out of your yard. And better still, how did you get that IN there to begin with?

The boat won't be in the rain much, will be going out in good weather then coming home and a tar pollen put over it so should be fine! And as you said if it needs replaced will worry about when the time comes.

And as for the trailer it holds the boat superbly! The boat doesn't move at all on it.

Will try and get better pictures tomorrow when the car isn't in the way. 60 miles isn't that far to be honest. Do it every weekend, maybe a lot though towing a boat

And as for getting it out of the drive, I don't know will be some task for sure. When we bought it it took four of us to get it in on flat tyres.

It would yea, but I'm not doing just to be laughed at

If its to difficult where going to sell it and get a smaller one. We did consider leaving it at the harbour but it was nearly ?1000

The trailer looks a bit undersized, the hull overhangs the wheels and the bow stop/winch doesn't look too hefty either.
Trailer frame itself is small diameter.
A 19 footer needs 2"x3" or bigger frame diameter.

I went through that with my 20', I bought another used trailer once I knew what I was looking for. The new frame is 4" square frame, galvi steel.

It definately needs a safety chain from the bow hook to the trailer frame,

you don't want to get overtaken by the boat on the road.
Get real good transom hold-down straps for the rear end.

Boat itself is fine, "fall-apart-icle board" is like weetabix.
I think the design is very slick looking.

The trailer should be fine, will find out when I tow it next week. I've had a cash offer for it which I've accepted, so if he comes with the money in 2 weeks as agreed its not my problem no more!

We are going to use it soon , then the fella is going to but it.

Thinking of buying a smaller boat to restore which will be easier to get in and out of the yard As already said, its very tight

For what it's worth, that appears to be OSB (orientated strand board) which is considerably more waterproof than particle. If the glues are like here in Georgia, I have had it stand up for years totally unprotected from the elements. The key is the binder.
Curious as to why no mention was made of the motor.

Had it out 2 weeks ago, was a pain to get out of the drive

Was brilliant fun accept we were both hanging over the side of the boat being sick lol, haven't had it out again due to shabby weather

Also got the seats for the cabin trimmed up
