Well, Its not 100% done, nothing ever is, but I could fill it with gas and hit the water right now. All major work is complete, I just need to hook up the tach and speedo, and a few other little nit-noid things. It will be painted next winter or spring. I also want to pull and check the water pump impeller, but I know it is fine, it had been replaced just before I got the beast.

This weekend I got the fuel tank in, motor fully rigged, all systems wired and checked, finished splashwell modification, and finished covering areas where old consoles were. I calculated expendature at just under $2000, including the original $800 purchase for boat/motor/trailer.

There is still more I would like to do, like the windshield and a T-Top and stuff like that, but for now it is usable. I can do more stuff later.

Castaway, the motor is the same motor I have always had, and I am not quite sure what you are reffering to as backrests. I will say that that motor was heavy, but I let a large heavy duty ratchet stap and some 2x10s do the lifting.

hey Jason

I thought you had a JohnnyRude of sizeable proportions on the back of that bugger at one time

and the tops are the tops of the aluminum pipes from the recycle yard that now support your backrest ... did you cap them somehow?

PS - Ray is a lot easier to type than CASTAWAY, lol

Re: Project Skanky Beast done

She keeps the name until the shakedown run, which I have tentitavely scheduled for next weekend. If all goes well, it stays in the water. If all doesn't go well, back out it comes. Haven't decided on a name yet, I just want it to run.

Castaway, I have not capped the tubes used for the backrest. Heck, I haven't even upholstered the backrest yet. It'll get done one day....

Re: Project Skanky Beast done

JasonJ what year is that ob? I found a older boat (haven't called owner yet) 18Ft. with a mercury 1250 125 horse just like yours and trailer for $950. Boat isn't as nice looking as yours (and its a v hull)but for the price I am thinking that the ob (running) has to be worth almost what they are asking. Thanks James

Re: Project Skanky Beast done

It should be a 1970, although I was told on another site that it may be a 69 or 68, but I doubt it. As far as worth, that year 125 horse, if it runs good, is worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $850 to $950. Mine runs like crazy, was the only reason I got the boat originally, but we all know what happened...

Re: Project Skanky Beast done

Everything is holding up just fine. It will take an act of congress to get any of my wood to take on water, every square inch has been saturated with resin and glassed, and the rubberized floor coating has been very durable and sheds water very well. Even though I used 5200 for any screws and bolts into the floor, the floor coating also acts to seal the threads as they pass through, as it stays a bit flexible.
