Hey guys,
It's been a while since I've been on the forum but, I have a quick question and I am sure DHadley (or anyone else) can answer this one. Who is the absolute best prop man or shop around when blueprinting for best all around performance ?
Thanks Guys !

Hey Walleyehed,
Thanks for the reply I'm not sure what prop to use I spoke with Rich Boger and he said either a Tempest or another Raker. I heard about Mark somewhere but am not familiar with his work . Can you speak from experience on either mans work? Thanks
Tom

Re: Prop Blueprinters

I've had a Raker done by both...
Boger Done a 20P for me and Croxton done a 22P.
Boger is real good with the Rakers and will only do OEM props....Merc, OMC/BRP, etc..he doesn't want to touch any Turbo, Ballistic, etc. type props-aftermarket, if you will.
Croxton is Excellent with anything he touches.
I would also consider Merc Racing division if staying with a Merc prop.

Agreed, all those guys are good. Most have specialties as Kenny mentioned. Sometimes it depends on what type of hull you have and what you're looking for. A buddy had a DAH (Don Henrich) prop on a Hydrostream that got trashed. DAH redid it and it worked almost as good as new but he said it was done. He hit something again and I had him send it to Mazco. John redid it and it worked better than ever.

Re: Prop Blueprinters

Thanks fellows for the quick reply, Which prop should I use? The Raker or the Tempest? The engine is a 150 FastStrike on a 185LS Tournament HydraSport bass boat. It will run out about 64.5mph(gps) @5400r's on smooth water but not stable at all. Itvents or cavitates around turns and porpoises and sits low in water to me. I would like to see 70mph or more if possible with more lift and control. I know I want it all! Thanks Tom

Find an authorized PropScan shop. They use computer analysis to dial in a prop- and it works.

Re: Prop Blueprinters

Are you looking for an out-of-the box prop (repeatability in case of damage) or a full custom built exactly for your boat?

Although I've not used them personally, I've heard good things about Throttle up in Michigan. Might be worth a call

Hey D,
I'm just looking to get a prop dialed in to my boat . Hopefully I won't need repeated replacement but there is always the unexpected right?
Thanks Tom

T-1, yes Mazco does build boat specific props. The last on he built for me was for a Hydrostream Vegas. I told him what I was looking for and he shipped it. Turned out it was a RE-4 29. It didn't do what I had asked for. It was better.

John Mazar owns Mazco Propeller. He modifys existing props and makes a line of his own. He's one of the oldest custom prop shops that I know of.

We still don't know exactly what you're looking for or what kind of boat you have. Are you looking for a $700-900 race prop or to get a good box stock prop and have it labbed or just looking for the best out-of-the box prop for a particular rig?
