Hello folks,
I have a problem with my prop i believe. Originally my motor would not speed up at all, it would just put around and (it would seem) go into neutral after I put the throttle down. So I took my prop off and the hub was bent up. So I managed to find a replacement prop which wasn't easy because it's a 1964 evinrude. I put it in the water and sped off, it was great!!! But then on my return trip back to the landing, as I was speeding up, the same thing happened. So I am at a loss, if you guys have any ideas I would really appreciate it. You all helped me out once before on this selectric shift and I got it fixed all on my own have a beer on me! (figuratively of course) :)

Re: Prop Problems

Could be a couple of things that come to my mind. 1. It could be the shift linkage is out and need of adjustment. 2. It could be you have a worn out clutch dog in the gear case. When it comes out of gear does it feel like you hit something with the leg or does it just gently shift out of gear? Best of luck. Rick.

Yup - most likely a worn clutch dog/forward gear. Cheapest fix would be to look for a good used lower unit.
