Re: Prop tuning - any comments/suggestions?
Time to bring this tread back to life.
hwsiii if you can once again look over my info and give me your input it would be greatly appreciated.
Over the winter I completely stripped the boat down. Cap off transom, floor, stringers all completely redone. While I was at it I went and did a complete make over of the interior adding a sun deck, teak swim platform, more current seating layout as well as storage locker in in the floor.
Anyway........... onto the task at hand, tuning this baby just a little more.
Facts
1. this being an OMC stringer propelled unit I took to raising the prop height up as much as I was able to and it now the antivent plate sits a full inch above the keel height. I am willing and able to drop it if necessary and once I have the boat out with a full load I think I will be adding a little more trim height to it for cruising. All depending on hwsiii input.
2. added smart tabs
3. I have added some weight (mostly to the back 1/3 of the hull) with the additional comfort and solid wood and glass as well as swim platform. But did move the batteries from there previous home just ahead of the crank pulley to in the floor centered beside my captains seat
1st runs were with my wsiii recommended - 19" Solas Amita 4 blade prop
top speed GPS 44.5 mph
RPM 4750
all around good performance - hole shot not a real neck snapper like my other prop.
Added a pic of vent plate at speed hard to see but nearly out of water (missing hinged portion of my swim platform as it was in the way for the pic)
2nd
OMC aluminium 15x17 391200
GPS top speed 40.4 @ 5500
38.1 @ 4750
Hole shot to beat the band! Man that thing gets it up on plane and hopping in a SHOT!
If I had all my wishes granted (as far as prop perf goes) I would hope for more speed as well as a better hole shot .......... lol
hwsiii just want to confirm your previous recommendation of taking my 39201 and having it fixed and double cupped. You still think that is my best option?
Thanks again
