I was out on the river on Saturday and noticed quite a few boats beached and anchored. I'm relatively new to boating and haven't beached a boat before, so I'm looking for information on the proper way to do it. Do you drive the boat up the shore at idle until it stops, or would it be better to shut the engine off and lift the outdrive say 10 feet from shore and pull the boat up by a rope the rest of the way? Just guessing, but I'd think I'd rather pull it by rope with me in the water, that way I can make sure there's no rocks to hit.
Just looking for some pointers on how to do this.
Thanks!
