Protecting drive from salt?

If I wanted to go above and beyond simple flushing and salt-away what would I use to protect my drive/exhaust from saltwater? It has a closed cooling system so I am not worried about the block.
Is it worth the trouble or is salt-away just as good as anything?
Also, what do you use to spray around the motor, stainless hardware, bolts etcc to protect from corrosion?
Is WD-40 ok to fog around?
I did a search and found some different suggestions but nothing seemed to have a general consensus.

crc makes a good anti-corrosion; $7 but it works. Ace hardware has it.

Is your boat moored in salt water?

No, pulled out and flushed every time.
I just see corrosion in the water passage when I pulled the drive and it got me thinking...

If you aren't moored, you don't really need an active anode system.

I keep mine on trailer and flushed after every use and saw the same thing (especially near the water pump) when I replaced the water pump in 3 year old drive with little use.

I guess water stays in these passages and takes forever to evaporate. Poor design if you ask me.
