I just finished up installing a Mariner 40hp magnum (4cyl) outboard. It starts and runs perfect. My question is about the alarm system. I am used to hearing a beep alarm when key is cycled on, but on this engine, nothing.

So is there suppose to be a key on beep? And how would I go about testing the alarms?

Thanks,
Rick

cant help much bushed all day on here but yes you should get a beep when turning on the key 40 HP oil injected engines have major problems with there warning systems but this is the first i,ve heard in a week about no sound when turning the key on. To most that would sound like good news bad news is your NOT getting the beep! So start with checking all wires ,and connections from the ignition back to the alarm. Then check level of oil, check float in oil tank, check the cap is securly on the tank, and I would bet that the alarm itself is shot . That would be 1 in 99 % chance but thats what I think
