Also is it safe to say I could order a new pair online in same size 10 D??

Re: Question about Redwing boots - replacement

I buy 99.9% of my footwear online, mainly from Cabela's.

If you think Redwings are comfy, try a pair of Danners. Cabelas did have some steel toe Danners on sale in their bargain cave for 1/2 price, I got a pair and they are nice... they don't even feel like a steel toe boot.

I use to wear Redwings onboard ship all the time. About once a year I'd have the same problem with the steel wearing through on the inside. When I'd get into a US port I'd take them in and they'd replace them. The Salt Water would also tear up the sole stiching and they wouldn't replace for that but I did get discounted pricing.

I phone order mine from a harness shop near Charm School (just had to say that) they are about 40 dollars cheeper than the Red Wing store. If you want their number if you know the model will have to say you have been fitted there (Red Wing rule) 330-893-0402 oh name of place Charm Harness and boot in Charm, Ohio. Oh an Amish buisness, they have belts made from harness leather last like 6 years.

Should be safe if it is the same model and they are a US made boot.

Re: Question about Redwing boots - replacement

i used to go through a pair of quality boots at least once a year, i think ive tried them all. Now i buy Redback boots sold through Matco tool distributors. My first pair lasted almost 3 years, just cant wear them out. I wear them every day, on concrete in an automotive shop with grease/oil etc... They take a bit of getting used to because they dont have laces-they are slip on full size boots. Sounds weird but works really well. Fit nice and snug and the MOST comfortable boot I have ever worn. They have steel toe or regular. I use the regular because i think the steel gets too cold in the winter. I dont believe they are insulated though so if thats something u need, they might not be what u want. I dont work outside so its not an issue for me. my 2 cents

Re: Question about Redwing boots - replacement

I used to wear Red Wings and liked them a lot.

Then I tried a pair of Browning Kangaroo Featherweights. Like wearing waterproof, insulated tennies. I did wear out one pair (10 years) and have had the second pair for 8 years.

Mine have no steel toe. . .they are outdoor boots, I guess, not work boots. I wear them for work at home and hunting and fishing.

Years ago the agency I work for issued these as our summer boots. I will second the fact that they were the best non insulated boots I ever had. The only problem was finding green polish or boot cream. When I would find it some where I would buy three or four cans of it.

Re: Question about Redwing boots - replacement

We gotta go Redwing and steel toe at work, if they pay for them, mine water proof, insulated, Goretex, non slip, marking, 6" high lace ups, great in rain, not heavy, will have to ask bout lifetime warranty, the outside leather is scuffed but good, and I've seen some nice waterproofing etc cleanup work done on them to brighten them up. Used to get one pair a year up to $200, but my old boss ok'd the $265 price as i told him they'd last at least twice as long as a cheaper boot and safer :>)
Had a shoe shop resole them about a year or so ago with Vibram lug soles, dont last nearly as long as original soles.

Re: Question about Redwing boots - replacement

Here is the warranty from up here, I thought at one time there was a limited lifetime warranty, but thats going back awhile.

I do like the lifetime services offered though (free laces for the life of the boot, ETC.
