Question About Wires

I have a 1992 Bayline 1950 with a 4.3L serial number OD720478. I removed the distributor last fall to replace a broken brass nipple for the oil pressure sensor. When I removed the distributor, I separated the cap from the base, and removed all wires going to both. I labeled everything but, for some reason, there is an unlabeled black wire that is connected to the vent on the cap. I believe it would go to either the white/green or white/red connector on the base, but unsure which one, if any. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The only Wires attached to the Cap, are the hi-tension leads...

Re: Question About Wires

I would like to see a picture too.
There are extra wires in wiring harnesses that may not get hooked to anything on your model. That distributor cap vent is just that, a vent. Nothing, especially a wire, gets hooked to it.

Re: Question About Wires

My Ingition Sensor, I believe, is over attached to a bracket by my exhaust manifold. But maybe I am wrong. I was told that there was a "bump sensor" placed on the thunderbolt distributor a few fews after 92. Correct me if I'm wrong, but could that be what you are referring to? I'll snap a pic today at lunch and send it over. Thanks!

It's not aftermarket, it's after tinkering by someone trying to fix something that didn't need fixing.

Take the wire off and throw it away. It does nothing and shouldn't be there.
