Re: Question regarding pressurized tank?

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't wait til tomorrow to put the new gas tank on so I went out this evening. Took off the old one line connector, put on a new one that came with the tank and added the air line back on. Hooked up the battery, pushed the tank primer down several times, said a prayer then pressed the button and it roared to life!!!!!:D I was very happy but you probably couldn't see me through all the whitish-blue smoke! LOL. Also there's a bit of an oil slick on the water surface after I shut it off...might need to rename the boat The Exxon Valdez. Is this normal? I know with the 2 cycle Lawn Boy mower I use there is always alot of blue/white smoke from the oil burning along with the fuel but it usually gets better as I run it. What should I expect from this motor...will it always blow smoke out like that (it's coming from down low, where the motor "pees" out the water). On the bright side, there were no mosquitoes for a mile radius after I ran it! A couple more questions regarding the pres. tank: do I need to open the cap to vent off that pressure after I turn the motor off? How do I know when I've pumped the primer button enough when I go to start it and do I have to do that each time or will it hold the pressure if I haven't opened the cap?
I don't have a smart phone that takes video but my son does and I'm going to see if I can get him to take a video of it running tomorrow so I can post it on YouTube and then paste the link here. I know it helps to be able to see and hear it running to know what's normal and what isn't. Again, I thank all of you for your advice and patience with a newbie like me...could NOT have gotten this far without you!

Lakeshadow, where did you find that one? Is it on Ebay or Craigslist? How much is it selling for?

There should not be alot of smoke when running on the water, you're on the lake, not a test tank right? May be a touch rich.

Re: Question regarding pressurized tank?

quote "The pressure delivered to a pressure fuel tank is compression pressure. The crank case can only offer vacuum."

with all do respect, if thats the case please explain how a diaphragm pump gets its pulse? and i do agree with you about the tanks....none are pressure tanks. and to the op, please dispose of that tank with the wires running into it!!! that thing is a bomb waiting to explode.

A guy behind the counter as I wandered Houghton Lake Marinas said the pressure in those tanks come form the compression stroke. I looked at my Fastwin and it looks to me like the pressure comes form exhaust pressure? Fix this for us if needed.

Re: Question regarding pressurized tank?

Just got the remote control box and am waiting on a boat-guru friend to show me how to hook up the cables to the motor (I've seen the instructions but it's just not "clicking" in my head; need to be shown). After an hour on the lake using that *)#*@) tiller handle and having a sore arm, I decided no more boating until I can get the control box and steering hooked up front where it belongs! :) Meanwhile I've sanded and am in the middle of painting the cowl hood for the old motor...just have to do the clear coat tomorrow and it's looking GREAT!! Taking my son to college on Friday :( then I will get my mom out on the boat FINALLY after starting this project 2 years ago. Thanks for checking in on me!
