Im back with another prop question..
I am currently running an ALUM 3 blade 14.25 x 21p WOT 5400 rmps 50mph(gps)with my 2000 135 Optimax.. I am still trying to gain another 400 rpms & hope to increase my top speed 5mph.

Buddy has an old stainless prop available that looks in good condition (came with his old Mercury) it is a ""Quicksilver 48 16316 A5 19P"". He knows little about this prop but did say something about maybe "thru hub or over/thru hub exhaust",

Q:Is it safe for me to try this propeller ? I dont know much about "over/thru hub exhaust" if it is or isnt or if my motor uses thru hub or over/thru hub props .

Thanks for your input...
edit: I found these tutorials. But can not tell what I currently have by looking at the prop(s) http://boatpropellers.iboats.com/propeller-tutorials/exhaust/

It is probably worth trying your buddy's prop, it should get you closer to your 5800 rpm goal. You might gain a little speed, but 5mph typically will require a significant power increase.

What hight is your motor set at?

What height is my motor set at? No idea...

So there isnt any issue between thru hub & over/thru hub exhaust ?
*Dont know which type I need nor which type this stainless prop is...

Your motor uses a through hub exhaust.Modern day props are through hub.
Your proip size is usually on the barrel or under the prop nut.
Typically your motor height should be with the antivent(cavitation)plate, just above the prop, about 1" above the bottom of the boat.more or less.Usually you would raise the motor to a point just before venting becomes a problem.
Based on your speed my guess is your probably allready there. As suggested when your at 50 mph a prop isn't likely to add 5 mph.

Thanks for the reply..I will check the height.
The set up is probably pretty close. Im pushing the 18-6 fully loaded Adventure 50mph with the very underpowered 135. ( Boat has a 175 capacity).. Now if only my 135 were to come up missing :)
