Try to trade 'em for walleye, crappie, or blue cat. Much better eating.

I kind of agree. There’s not much in the way of freshwater fish with a taste that can compete with saltwater fish. I suppose with enough spice and stuff to disguise the flavor they are ok.

Cut them in 2" slices, get the fry baby real hot, drop in for 1 minute and get the dressing ready. Plain, simple, and fast.
My 3 girls loved them that way.
No worry about bone etc.

No bones that way? Does the hot oil soften them enough to eat them?

Cut off the heads.
throw some garlic and butter on the inside along with a couple of thin sliced pieces of lemon.
wrap in aluminum foil and throw on grill for 5-7 minutes.
Great way to eat them. works great when camping too.

Don't forget to remove the scales before cooking.

Throw a couple of orange slices in the cavity, sprinkle a little dill on top, wrap in foil and place on the BBQ or in the oven. Serve it with wild rice and your favorite wine.

Or, filet them, dip them in a beer batter and fry them in a pan in about 2 inches of Crisco. Cook up some spaghetti in tomatoe sauce with hot italian sausage. Place a filet on a plate and cover it with the spaghetti. Cover the spaghetti with American cheese and microwave the dish until the cheese has completly melted. Serve with and a cold beer.

I think that attempting to fillet a trout like you would another species would be a mistake.

Trout skin is very thin and the scales (skin) don't need to come off before cooking, it is much easier to peel it off when it's served.

Re: Rainbow trout???

Everyone has there own way to cook trout, now heres mine,I fillet them the best i can, normally in what ever size falls off, rollem up in a paper towel, put in fridge over night, this drys them out alittle, then roll them in a beer batter and stab the pieces with a tooth pick, twirl them too get rid of excess batter... deep fry.... very good this way ;)
