OK let's hear it, where are you at and what do you pay?

I'm in extreme SE Wisconsin and seems the going rate for Village/DNR/Public ramps in this area is $7.00 and most are in Parks and have a closing time between 10 to 10:30pm and do not open before 6am.

The one lake that I use often has 4 seperate ramps, 3 public and 1 private though a home owners assc.. 1 public ramp is improved concrete with piers, 1public ramp semi improved paved, no pier. Both $7.00. 1 public ramp unimproved gravel, no pier, no parking, FREE. From what I understand the Home owners assc pier/ramp is $50.00 a year dues.

Also from what I understand many of the Village ramps sell a yearly sticker for about $125.00

Re: Ramp fees!

about 6 free public ramps on the missouri river within a couple miles, and about 6 private, no closing time on any. The private ones all seem to be about $250 - $300/season, and don't offer one time use either. All paved, gravel ramps don't stand up to currents or changing water levels very well.

The lake I often boat at has about 10 ramps, all 100% public, no closing times.

Only ramp I pay for is one that is in a park on Lake Minnetonka - Costs $30 a year for the hangtag or $5? a day. Otherwise the ramps on all the other lakes and river we use are free.

Tampa, Florida Public ramp at Gandy Bridge boat ramp. $5.00 I don't mind paying as long as it's being maintained nicely as it has been. What gets me is fishing licenses. No matter what month you buy it you have to renew it during your birth month. What's wrong with paying for a 1 year license no matter what month it is? Just another way to scam money out of the public.

Re: Ramp fees!

You must go to Lake Geneva. That lake is crazy!!!

Here on the Rock River, there are no fees. The ramp I use is one STEEP lane. It has a lot of parking around it though. On the other side of town there is a two lane ramp. Although one is only for short boat trailers. It however has very limited parking due to the ball diamonds there. I also have access to a private ramp.

Over on the Mississippi, there are public ramps that are free. One has a ton of parking, but at normal water levels, my boat can't get out to the main channel. The marina we use has a $3.00 fee for residents and $5.00 for out of towners.

If I go down to the Q.C.'s at Sunset Marina, there are several ramps all spaced away from each other, a TON more parking and free.

EDIT: Oops, I forgot:rolleyes:. In Chicago on the Little Calument, we had to pay $7.00 to launch. So that makes three.

So, other than the marina at Savanna on the Ole' Miss and Lake Geneva, I can't say I have ever paid to launch any where else. And I have boated in several states on several different lakes and rivers.

I live in Northern Virginia and launch into the Potomac, at Fairfax County park its about $10 each launch I believe and $135 for a year. Since I have been going out about 3 times a week since I got my boat I have a yearly pass.

Re: Ramp fees!

The main place I boat is on lake Michigan and the ramp there is $7 for under 20 feet for a resident. I bought a season pass for $70 and have used it 8 times so far this season.

11 conrete lines with great piers and its always hassle free with no waiting.
Its also 2 minutes from my back door.

Extreme SE WI here as well.

Is that a City/County or state resident discount?

Chicago. Most expensive gas. Most expensive sales tax. And probably most expensive ramp. $25/day. IF they have room for your trailer.

Re: Ramp fees!

The beautiful new public ramp in San Francisco is free, but parking is $5 weekdays, and free on weekends. Sausalito, across the Bay, has a free public ramp, but "no trailer parking" signs are everywhere, so effectively there's no ramp. Nice, huh?
There's a private one nearby that charges $20, including parking.
Alameda and Oakland have decent, free ramps.

Re: Ramp fees!

Also in SE Wisconsin, and I hate paying ramp fees. Yearly sticker for a couple lakes (county maintained ramps) is $70, or $7 a day.

Many public ramps in all the towns around here, no fees on any of them. Never had to wait behind more than one boat, never any trouble parking.

We pay 30 a year or 4 a day for access and the tag is good for any corp of engineer lake.

Re: Ramp fees!

Lake Castaic in SoCal is $11 entry fee per car and $13 fee for a boat. So, $24 a day.

Buena Vista Lake in Central Cali is $6 entry fee per car, $7 per boat, Add another $6 if you want to fish and God forbid if you bring a dog, that's another $4.

Re: Ramp fees!

We have a ton of free public ramps. I kinda wish they would convert some of them to pay sites, it might keep away the idiots. I would pay a little bit to not have to deal with the crowds and have enough parking for all the tow rigs. As it is now on weekends most of the public ramps do not have enough parking and you end up parking out on the street, and have to huff it a mile back to your boat.

Re: Ramp fees!

The small lake that I go to most of the time in NC is only 5 minutes from my house and they charge $4 per launch for residents, or $8 for non-residents. I believe a yearly pass is $250 which I'll probably do next year. The lake opens around 6am and closes between 8:00 and 9:00, posted closing time each day. This is the only way to access the lake, so they clear all boats at the "off the water" time.

The other larger lakes around here have a mix of free state owned ramps and private marina ramps that charge. None of them are two pricey.

When I was in NY, there was one lake that we ended up paying I think about $80 to launch... had to join some association and then the actual launch was about $20, but that was years ago.

Re: Ramp fees!

There are only a handful of lakes that have a fee in the land of 10,000 (MN), so I avoid them. It's tough to go anywhere up here without driving into a lake, that's why it's so nice when they freeze over in the winter so you can drive on them without consequence!
