Re: RAMPS Some people you can't help

There used to be a kid at the local lake with a 10' jon boat w/trailer, fully loaded w/trailer probably weighed less than 500 lbs., but he pulled it with a chevette:eek: The car had 2 hitches! one mounted on the hatch for transporting, because the tounge rode too low, and one one the bumper for launching and retrieving. You could tell when he left, you'd hear that massive 1.2 liter tach out, then would come the clutch dump, then would come the burnout up the ramp.:D

" I'm not stuck....Jeeps can go anywhere"

+ Rental cars

Wait, this is actually true. I once rented a Jeep Cherokee Limited and went mudding with it. I jumped rocks the size of the engine and never got stuck. By the time I finished, there wasn't enough time to give it a wash, so I returned it to the Boston airport rental place caked in mud.

So now we know.. that Jeep guy got stuck because he owned his Jeep :p

Oh, PS: Don't buy ex-rental Jeeps

A 22' Bayliner being towed by a Honda CRV
What?,,, Don't you know that a Honda can do anything! :D:D:D
I bet it can float like a VW bug, and I see that happening in the near future with this one

If it sucked some water in the differential thru the vent he'll have some problems down the road a ways.
Mike

Probably not an issue since the crv is front wheel drive.

Re: RAMPS Some people you can't help

I have to mention this, two weeks ago wife and I went to local ramp never visited and due to really steep angle paired with lousy emer brake on my old truck and nothing really good to chock tires with gave up and went home. Anyway our weekly newspaper published a front page picture today of a guy walking up the ramp after he examined his sunken car in the water. He and his girl had parked on the ramp nose first and walked down to the water.

Fortunate they were able to jump out of the way when the car rolled in. Nobody hurt except the insurance company and his pride.

Ironic huh

I'll never understand why people put their vehicles like that....

I would guess the same reason people park in the fire lanes of shopping centers.. laziness and/or "this public place should cater to just me" irrational thinking.

Yeah about jeeps ddiertrich? When I was 22 or so I had a 48 flat head willy's with 20" everglades farm tires on it. On newyears day I was being a da and was showing off its almost floating powers to my freinds. Well cutting across the swamp came to a rapid halt when I ran her up on a stump. Four tires spinning in the water. What I needed then was a good 70 hp Johnson on the tailgate.

Most times I see that or the uber ghey "It's a jeep thing, you wouldn't understand" it's on a bone stock jeep that never wheels.

People like me, who have been upside down many times offroad chuckle at those silly people.

Most times. Not all.
I've been on my side a couple times but not all the way over. Not that nuts. Chuckle all you want. I cant afford to break stuff for the sake of breaking stuff. YJ is not stock. Front and rear lockers, four inch lift, detach torsion bars, winch, jacks, etc.
I'm not much of a rock crawler but do it occasionally. I prefer just getting someplace very remote to fish and camp.
Back on topic. The YJ Wrangler 4.0 is capable of towing a boat but I wouldn't do it. Its just to damn short wheelbase. If you dyno the brakes on that thing with something in tow, I have no idea what would happen but I do know it wouldn't be good.

In my world, that's still a stock jeep, with bolt ons ;)

I have a built FJ40, but might be selling it, getting too old for the hardcore stuff. My last roll was a hard one, felt like I was in a car crash for a week. I have full safety gear, 2"x.120 wall nascar spec tubing for my cage, PRP racing seats and harnesses, etc. I even wear a helmet on the real hard stuff.

Hey Mr sensitive, no disdain here. Sorry, I will keep the offroading talk where it belongs, obviously not here.
